Description_Door lock of the Dogon tribe Mali. The lock consists of a vertical element, and a horizontal slider. It has a metal trim with the locking system still in place, locking pins are also present, incised markings in a diamond formation cover the whole lock, together with a beautiful brown patina. The closure systems of the Sudanese regions contain characteristic elements of the Dogon cosmogony, according to which the first inhabitants of the Bandiagara area crossed the river on the back of a crocodile. The designs on doors in Mali are intended to deter intruders, whether human or animal, from entering. The locks, like the doors, are cut in wood chosen according to the function of the building in which they will be used.
